Attendance
Please e-mail SchallenbergerAbsence@sjusd.org (preferred) or call 408-287-6257 when your child is absent and include the following information:
- Student’s name
- Teacher
- Date of absence
- Reason for absence
- Your name
Parents have 5 days to excuse their child’s absence. If you have not notified the school within 5 days, the student’s absence will be marked unexcused.
Tardies
Arriving at school on time is important. When students arrive late, important instructions are missed.
- Students are considered tardy after the bell rings.
- All students late to school must report to the office, give the reason for being tardy, and receive a tardy sticker. If your student is late due to not feeling well, the student will be seen by the Health Clerk before going to class.
- If a student has a doctors appointment, a note must be provided or the student will have an unexcused tardy.
Truancy
- Truancy letters are automatically sent to parents from the District Office when their child has had either three unexcused absences or three tardies of more than 30 minutes.
- If the pattern of truancy continues, students are referred to the School Attendance Review Board (SARB) officer of the school district, and finally to the District Attorney.
Out ill:
Please list specific symptoms your child is experiencing and if they have a fever.
To comply with SCC Public Health Guidelines & SJUSD COVD-19 policy next step follow:
Get your student a PCR type COVID-19 test now and have your student quarantine at home 10 days. Provide school the test results and do not come back to school until cleared by school staff. For any further questions, please email Credentialed School Nurse, Cheryl McCleland-Lewis.
